At J Barnett Gardens we believe that Gardening and Plants are vital to people’s well-being. We are committed to helping people experience gardening in whatever way they can, as well as supporting and uplifting others that work within the same industry. Both as a business and personally we support a range of different charities and organisations.

Ainsdale Horticultural Society.

AHS is our local horticultural society, J Barnett Gardens proudly helps sponsors the ‘Plant A Pot’ event which engages with local children to grow their own food, as well as supporting the Children’s tent for displaying children’s art work and gardening talents.

Perennial.

Perennial is the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping everyone who works in horticulture, and their families. The demand for Perennial’s services has increased by nearly 400% during the Covid Crisis.

James is Lead Local Volunteer for Perennial for the North West, you will hopefully see us at a Perennial stand at Flower Shows.

NHS+Angel+Garden.jpg

NHS.

We have helped design two different gardens for local NHS trusts, one ‘The Angel Garden’ for Ormskirk NHS Trust to provide a space for those who have lost children. Most recently a sensory garden at Southport hospital for the dementia patients using the facilities.

Nugent Care.

We helped organise and took part in a working party at the Nugent Care site Clumber House, making their garden safe and useable for all.

Shoreside Primary School.

Shoreside Primary School / Rainbow Multi Academy Trust – we made several willow structures, planted 500 new trees with rabbit proof fencing, and assisted in the creation of a new garden for the school

Queenscourt Hospice.

Queenscourt Hospice – We have been involved in the annual Christmas Tree Collections, helping raise over £10,000 per year.

Talks and Demonstrations.

We have given many talks and demonstrations to groups in the local area including sowing seeds, garden design, horticultural therapy and tool maintenance and safe use.
